
Slow Start Dooms Pack at UNC-Chapel Hill

NC State returns to action Wednesday at Boston College
The NC State men's basketball team fell to UNC-Chapel Hill, 107-56, Sunday afternoon in the Dean E. Smith Center. With the loss, the Pack now stands at 12-4 (1-2 ACC) on the season, while the Tar Heels improve to 14-3 (2-1 ACC).
The Tar Heels jumped on the Pack early, scoring the first six points of the game. NC State scored the next four points to cut the lead to two, but UNC-CH responded with a 20-0 run to take a 26-4 lead with 11:35 left in the first half. The Pack would not get closer than 19 points the rest of the way.
NC State was plagued by turnovers in the first half as the Pack committed 15 turnovers and shot just 30 percent from the field. The Pack finished the game with a season-high 26 turnovers, which led to 37 Tar Heel points.
The Pack finished the game shooting just 36.5 percent from the floor, which marks only the third time in 16 games this season NC State has been held to less than 40 percent shooting.
NC State was led by Dennis Smith Jr., Torin Dorn and Maverick Rowan who all scored 11 points. Smith, Jr., who was limited to just seven minutes in the first half after picking up three fouls, added five assists and three steals to lead the Pack in both categories. Abdul-Malik Abu had a game-high nine rebounds for NC State.
NC State is back in action Wednesday evening when it travels to Chestnut Hills, Mass., to take on Boston College. The game will tipoff at 9 p.m. and will be shown on RSN.
