
Wolfpack Finishes Strong at Hokie Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The NC State track and field team wrapped up competition at the Hokie Invitational Saturday at Rector Field House. The Pack's sprinters and jumpers led the way, as three athletes won collegiate competitions and the team earned two more ACC qualifying marks.
Sprints:
The Wolfpack sprinters posted another impressive showing at the meet, as Shannon Patterson set a school record in the 300m. Patterson edged Ben Major's old record of 34.12 with a 34.11 to claim the record and win the event. Patterson is now a two-time school record holder after helping the DMR team to a school record last season.
Quashawn Cunningham finished second overall and first among college athletes in the 200m with a 21.51 on his season debut in the event. The time is good for an ACC qualifying mark in the event and is his second qualifying mark of the weekend. His time currently leads the ACC.
Cravont Charleston and Dylan Peebles added top-10 finishes in the event, finishing seventh (21.90) and ninth (22.01), respectively.
On the women's side, Tiana Patillo finished ninth in the 400m with a time of 56.74.
Jumps:
Christopher Garrick added an event win in the high jump, clearing 6'10.75" to win the competition by 1.75". Garrick's mark is currently fifth in the ACC and qualifies him for the ACC Championships.
On the women's side, Margaret Edwards finished tied for fourth after clearing 5'4.50".
Javonne Antoine led the Pack in the long jump with a season best of 18'0.25" for seventh place. True freshman Nicole Teague finished ninth overall, jumping 17'10.25" – good for a 5.50" improvement from her first jump of the year.
Kimani "KC" Hoffman finished seventh in the men's long jump with a leap of 22'1.75".
Throws:
Lauren Evans and Alyssa Dunn both posted season bests in the shot put, finishing third (47'10.75") and fifth (45'9.25"), respectively.
Up Next:
The team will continue its indoor season next weekend with action at the Bob Pollock Invitational.
