
NC State Opens Competition at Hokie Invite

Results
BLACKSBURG, Va. – The NC State track and field team won three events and earned seven ACC qualifying marks on the first day of the Hokie Invitational at Rector Field House on Friday night.
Multis:
Grant Rivers held his lead and won the men's heptathlon with 4,923 points. He ran an 8.67 in the 60m hurdles, won the pole vault with a mark of 13'11.25" and finished second in the 1,000m with a time of 3:04.02.
Mid- Distance:
Kaitlyn Kramer headlined the Pack's distance group, winning the mile with a nine-second PR of 4:48.92. NC State swept four of the top-five spots in a dominant team showing. Ryen Frazier finished second in 4:49.38, Rachel Koon finished fourth in 4:49.99 and Elly Henes took fifth in 4:50.43 on her track debut.
All four times qualify for the ACC Championships, while Kramer's time is currently ranked third in the ACC.
Tanis Baldwin made his track debut for the Pack in the 1,000m, competing in uniform for the first time since the 2015 cross country season. Baldwin took eighth in the event with a time of 2:28.78, setting the school's seventh fastest 1,000m.
Sprints/Hurdles:
Cravont Charleston once again led the Wolfpack sprinters. The true freshman ran 6.77 in the 60m preliminary heats, finishing third. In the final, the freshman dropped his time to 6.71 finishing second overall and first among college athletes.
Quashawn Cunningham took 11th in 6.88 on his season debut to earn an early ACC qualifying mark.
Josh Gandy logged a season-best 8.27 in the 60m hurdles preliminary, finishing seventh overall. He added another seventh-place finish in the final, running 8.32.
On the women's side, Gabriele Cunningham advanced to the finals of both the 60m and the 60m hurdles and finished no lower than seventh in all four of her races. Cunningham set a season-best of 8.58 in the 60m hurdles and ran a meet-best of 7.57 in the 60m.
Throws:
Joshua Davis won his third weight throw competition of the season with a toss of 69'9.00". Davis currently sits in fourth place in the NCAA has won three of his four competitions this season. The Pelham, N.C., clinched the event on his first throw.
On the women's side, Lauren Evans took fourth in the weight throw with a new PR of 60'10.25", marking her second-straight week with a PR. Evans' mark moves her to fourth in the ACC.
Jumps:
Javonne Antoine improved her indoor triple jump personal best with a mark of 41'3.00" to finish fifth overall and secure a spot at the ACC Championships. Antoine improved on her previous indoor best by 2.25" and moved within 1.25" of the fourth-best mark in school history in the event.
On the men's side, Kimani "KC" Hoffman made his debut for the Pack, jumping 48'11.50" for fifth place and an ACC qualifying mark.
