RALEIGH – Ranked 23rd in the AP poll and 22nd in the USA Today poll, the NC State women's basketball team (13-4, 3-1 ACC) returns to action at No. 26/24 Syracuse Thursday evening. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. from the Carrier Dome and the game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

Led by a career-high 23 points from junior Chelsea Nelson and a dominant team defensive effort, the then-No. 29/23 NC State women's basketball team (13-4, 3-1 ACC) earned a 65-50 win at Wake Forest Sunday afternoon.

Trailing 14-12 at the end of the first quarter, the Wolfpack played incredible defense to close out the remainder of the half. For the entirety of the second quarter, NC State did not allow Wake Forest to make a single field goal (0-11) and outÂscored the Demon Deacons 15-1 in the period. Nelson scored nine points for NC State in the second quarter alone.

All told, the Wolfpack held Wake Forest without a made field goal for a stretch of 14:05 in the game, turning a 14-12 deficit into a 33-18 advantage.
