
Pack Gymnastics Listed 15th In First National Poll Of Season

Knight, Phillips among top 25 of individual event standings
RALEIGH - After an opening-season team score of 194.925 on Sunday, the NC State gymnastics team sits at No. 15 in the first Road To Nationals poll of the 2017 season.Â
The Wolfpack opened its season inside the newly renovated Reynolds Coliseum with Florida, who scored a 197.100 to sit at No. 3 in this week's rankings.

The Pack is joined by EAGL conference foe George Washington in the top 25, as the Colonials are ranked 10th after defeating Yale with a score of 195.550.
As a team NC State is listed among the top 25 of all four rotations. Its highest event ranking is on vault at 11th (49.950), and is also listed 20th on bars (48.675), 23rd on floor (48.725) and 24th on beam (48.575).
In the individual rankings junior Chelsea Knight is ranked 13th in the all-around competition after posting a career high 39.350, and sophomore Paris Phillips sits at No. 22 after earning a 39.150 in her first collegiate meet as an all-arounder.Â
Knight and Phillips are also ranked 22nd on floor after tying for second overall with scores of 9.850. Knight is additionally ranked fifth on beam after posting a career best 9.900 to place second in the event standings.
NC State will return to action when it heads to No. 40 Utah State Friday for a tri-meet with the Aggies and 45th-ranked Bowling Green State. The meet is set for a 9 p.m. ET start inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
