Wednesday's game closes ACC Start that saw Pack play three of first four ACC games on the road
The NC State men's basketball team (12-4, 1-2 ACC) plays its third road contest in four games as it travels to Chestnut Hills, Mass., to face Boston College on Wednesday night. The game is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET.
The game will be televised on RSN with Tom Werme and Mike Gminski on the call. - NC State dropped its last game, 107-56, to UNC-Chapel Hill. It was the lowest scoring output of the season for the Pack as they were held below 70 points for just the third time this season and held below 40 percent shooting (36.5%) for just the third time in 16 games.
- Freshman Dennis Smith, Jr., recorded the second triple in NC State history on Wednesday in the Pack's 104-78 win over #21 Virginia Tech. The freshman finished the game with 27 points, 11 assists and 11 rebounds. It was the first triple-double for NC State in an ACC game. Smith is the first freshmen in ACC history to record a triple-double in ACC play. For his efforts, Smith was named ACC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. Smith, Jr., joins Boston College's Ky Bowman and Georgia Tech's Josh Okogie as the only players to win the ACC's weekly honor twice this season.
- Smith Jr., has been playing at a high level for the Pack over the past seven games. The ACC's Preseason Rookie of the Year is averaging 20 ppg., on 57.3% shooting (47-86), including 51.4% (18-35) from three-point range. He also has passed out 58 assists in the seven games (8.3 apg.) and has 20 steals (2.9 spg.) He has led NC State in scoring in six of the last seven games and has led the team in assists and steals in eight straight games entering Saturday night's contest.

The Pack had three players score in double figures off-the-bench in the win over Appalachian State on 12/15 after having only three individual double-digit scoring performances off-the-bench in the first nine games.  Freshman Dennis Smith, Jr., set a PNC Arena record on Wednesday, Dec. 28 when he passed out 16 assists in the Pack's 99-71 win over Rider. The 16 assists broke the previous record of 13 which was held by NC State's Lorenzo Brown (vs. Duke on 1/12/13) and UNC-Chapel Hill's Kendall Marshall (vs. NC State on 2/21/12). The 16 assists are the most in a single-game by an NCAA DI player this season.
