
Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at Notre Dame Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The NC State women's cross country team finished second after an impressive race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday afternoon. The men's team finished in 11th place amongst a deep field.
Team Results:
No. 1 Providence took the top spot in the women's 5k race, scoring 117 points. The Wolfpack finished second with 149 points, just ahead of Eastern Michigan who scored 166 points and No. 2 New Mexico with 169 points. Erika Kemp led the Wolpfack once again, running a personal best time of 16:35.0 to better her time from the adidas XC Challenge, 17:02.4. Rachel Koon (27th), Megan Moye (31st), Alyssa Rudawsky (39th), Elly Henes (44th) represented the rest of the NC State's scorers.
On the men's side, Ole Miss, UTEP and Eastern Kentucky took the top three spots. The Wolfpack finished in 11th place in the five mile race, ahead of fellow-ACC schools Florida State (15th), UNC (22nd) and Notre Dame (25th). Sam Parsons made his season debut, leading the Wolfpack with a second place finish and a time of 23:35.9. Ben Barrett (64th), Aubrey Myjer (66th), Sebastain Hanson (67th) and Patrick Sheehan (73rd) rounded out the rest of the team's scorers.
Freshman Forces:
Elly Henes ran 17:04.1 in her first race in the Wolfpack uniform, bettering her time from the adidas XC Challenge, 17:10.3. Henes finished as the fourth fastest runner on the team, 44th overall. Beth Taye also made her NC State debut, running 17:10.3 to finish 86th overall and seventh for the Wolfpack. Taye's time is a significant drop from two weeks ago, where she ran 17:37.1.
Season Debuts:
Kaitlyn Kramer opened up her final season with the Wolfpack with a PR, running 17:13.3 to finish 55th overall. Teammate Alyssa Rudawsky also opened up her season at the meet, finishing in a time of 17:00.8 Rudawsky placed 39th overall, and fourth for NC State.
On the men's side, Parsons kicked off his final season with the Wolfpack with a strong second place finish. Parsons finished the five mile race in 23:35.9, leading NC State throughout the race. Hanson ran 24:37.7 on his season debut. Transfer Elijah Moskowitz wore the Wolfpack jersey for the very first time, running 24:37.7. Philip Hall was the final Wolfpacker to make his debut at the race, running 24:49.7.
Open Results:
Rebekah Greengrass had a strong final stretch to win the Open Race, finishing in a time of 17:33.9. Megan Remple finished with a time of 17:47.4. Alec Thomas finished the men's five mile open race in 25:26.4.

In two weeks, the Wolfpack will compete in the Wisconsin Invitational, another highly competitive competition where NC State will look to prepare for the NCAA Championships meet.
