RALEIGH, N.C. – Despite a season-high 83 digs, the NC State volleyball team dropped a four-set battle with UNCW, 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 23-25), Sunday afternoon inside Reynolds Coliseum.
Â
The Wolfpack (7-5) had a tough time getting its offense going, as UNCW (10-2) served well and NC State wasn't able to pass the ball efficiently.

Quoting Hampton-Keith
Opening Statement…
"I thought UNCW was one of the better serving teams we've faced this year," said head coach Linda Hampton-Keith. "They gave us fits from the service line and our passing was struggling because of it. They're a great serving team and they got rolling on some blocks late in fourth set but we fought and hung in there."
On comeback in fourth set…
"I thought they did a great job of staying in the moment and taking it one play at a time. I thought the team did a great job to give us a chance at the end. We talked about it afterwards and we could have easily thrown in the towel at that point but we didn't. We kept fighting and taking care of business at that point, so I was really proud of how they responded in that fourth set. To make a game of it really close at the end and lose 25-23 is unfortunate and disappointing to end like that but I really liked how we fought back."
On match vs. UNC-CH…
"We're excited about Thursday. What we talked about was that we just ended our non-conference season and we're proud of what we've accomplished. We think we're pretty battle-tested from it and we're really excited to get going with conference and see where we stand because we think we've accomplished a lot of great things and keep getting better and better."
