
Women Take First Place, Men Second After Tiebreaker at adidas XC Challenge

Cary, N.C. - The NC State women's cross country team claimed their third consecutive adidas XC Challenge title Friday night. The men's team finished in second place, after winning a tiebreaker with Virginia.
The women's team represented six of the top-20 finishers in the 5k race. Senior Erika Kemp led the Pack, finishing fourth with a time of 17:02.4. Rachel Koon and Megan Moye followed closely behind, finishing fifth and six, respectively. Bianca Bishop (11th), Megan Vaughn (14th) and Rebekah Greengrass (16th) completed the top six finishers for the Wolfpack.
The men's team was led by two runners who ran for the first time in the NC State uniform. Aubrey Myjer, a senior transfer from Columbia, finished ninth in 18:17.3, and Ben Barrett, a redshirt freshman, finished 11th with a time of 18:18.1. Patrick Sheehan finished closely behind Barrett, placing 12th overall with time 18:20.9. The rest of the Wolfpack's scorers were Aaron Thomas (17th), Wyatt Maxey (21st), Alec Thomas (32nd) and Zack Langston (37th).
Team scores:
The competition was deep in both the men's and women's races, featuring many ACC teams who were seeking experience at the WakeMed Soccer Park, where ACC Championship will be held on Oct. 28th.
The ACC represented the first four teams of the women's 5k race. NC State claimed the top nod with 40 points, followed by UNC with 54 points, Florida State with 76 points and Wake Forest with 111 points. Virginia finished seventh with 176 points.
Similiarly, the ACC dominated the men's 6k race. Florida State finished first with 34 points, NC State and Virginia both scored 66 points to tie for second place, but the Wolfpack came out on top after the tiebreaker. North Carolina finished in the fifth position with 123 points, and Wake Forest completed the ACC teams with their sixth place finish with 164 points.
