Wolfpack junior led the squad with 41 kills over the weekend
FORT Worth, Texas – Following a stellar opening weekend, NC State volleyball's Perry Ramsey has been tabbed to the TCU Invitational All-Tournament Team, selected by the participating teams' head coaches.
Â
"I thought Perry played exceptionally well this weekend," said head coach Linda Hampton-Keith. "We needed to rest her a little bit in the last match, as she's been managing some things but she came in and had a really clutch performance against Boise State.
Â
"She did a fantastic job of toughing it out and we're really proud of her for that."
Â
The Wolfpack junior tallied 41 kills over the weekend, highlighted by double-digit kills in three of the four matches. Ramsey also helped out defensively with 32 digs, narrowly missing a double-double in each contest.
Â
She put down 11 kills with eight digs against Northwestern State and charted eight kills and eight digs versus TCU. On Saturday, the NC State outside hitter swatted 10 kills to go along with nine digs against Arkansas State.
Â
Ramsey enjoyed one of her strongest performances of the weekend in the final match against Boise State, fighting through some fatigue from the grueling weekend. She belted 12 kills on 23 attempts with only two errors to record an attacking percentage of .435.
Â
The all-tournament team selection is second of her career, as Ramsey was named to the UGA Invitational All-Tournament Team as a freshman in 2014.
Â
Ramsey helped lead NC State to a 2-2 record on the weekend, highlighted by wins against Northwestern State and Boise State. Each of the Pack's losses were versus teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2015 and are receiving votes in the 2016 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Coaches Poll – Arkansas State and TCU.
Â
NC State returns to action Friday, Sept. 2, against McNeese State at the Ole Miss Tournament. First serve is slated for 4:30 p.m.
