Pack Finishes In Top 50 Of Final ITA Polls

NC State represented in team, singes and doubles polls
FINAL RANKINGS
SKILLMAN, N.J.- In result of a successful season on the court, the NC State women's tennis team finished among the top 50 of the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team, singles and doubles polls, as released by the committee on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolfpack finished at No. 40 among the team poll, marking the highest final ranking since 2011, while Martina Frantova remained at No. 45 in singles and additionally she and Tayla Stenta checked in at No. 48 in doubles play.

As a team NC State finished the regular season with a 15-12 (6-8 ACC) record and earned its first trip to the NCAA Championship since 2013. The team additionally marked program history as it earned six wins in conference play- the most in a given season for the Pack.

Frantova remained in the singles polls throughout the entire dual season as she compiled a 14-10 (8-6 ACC) ledger in the top spot of the team lineup, which includes 12 wins over ranked opponents. Thanks to a strong season, she garnered a bid to the NCAA Singles Championship, marking the fourth player in program history to receive an invitation, as well as All-ACC Second Team honors in recent weeks.Â

For Frantova and Stenta, this marks the first time in the 2016 season that the pair has been listed in the national rankings. Frantova is the second player in program history to hold top 50 rankings in both polls at the same time, as Sanaa Bhambri maintained a top 50 ranking in singles and doubles play in 2011.Â
