
NC State Dominates Wolfpack Last Chance

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State track and field team concluded its regular season at Paul Derr Track, as the program hosted athletes from 34 schools for Wolfpack Last Chance Meet. The Pack dominated the meet with several events wins and personal records.
The Senior Class
NC State honored its senior class on the track, recognizing each senior and their important contributions for the Pack over their four years.
Mid-Distance:
NC State's mid-distance squad stole the show at the regular-season finale, cranking out big PRs, regional and ACC qualifying marks.
The Pack added three ACC qualifying marks and a regional qualifying mark in the 1,500m with an impressive showing.
As soon as pacer Vibushan Sivakumran stepped off the track, Luis Vargas sprinted to the front of the pack and held the lead throughout, finishing the race in 3:42.67 for the win. Vargas is up to three ACC and regional qualifying marks. His 1,500m time ranks 30th in the nation, 18th in the East, and fifth in the ACC.
Sam Parsons and Sebastian Hanson both ran PRs in the event and qualified for the ACC Championships with time of 3:47.00 and 3:47.92, respectively. Running unattached, Philip Hall crossed the finish line in an impressive 3:46.16.
On the women's side, Bethany Neeley led the Pack with a time of 4:31.66, and Megan Vaughn won her heat and finished ninth overall in 4:38.37, while running unattached.
Megan Moye shined in the 800m, running a to PR of 2:04.93. Moye moves to 22nd in the nation, 12th in the East and third in the ACC with the mark. Moye was paced by Kenyetta Iyevbele and had a strong final lap in the loaded field.
Moye has developed into a double threat in mid-distance events throughout the year. She has produced regional qualifying marks in both the 1,500m and 800m and holds the 1,500m school record. The mid-distance specialist breakout season started this indoor season, as she set the school indoor mile school record and earned First-Team All-America honors in the event.
In the men's 800m, Jonathan Knight opened his outdoor season with a sixth-place finish with a time of 1:53.17.
Jumps:
The NC State women swept the all three jumps events on the night, as Javonne Antoine won the triple jump in 40'2.25", Alexis Perry took the victory in the long jump with a leap of 20'7.25" and Margaret Edwards won the high jump with a mark of 5'5.00". The Pack also added a pair of runner up finishes, as Imari McLean finished second in the long jump with a leap of 17'10.25" and Amara Bell finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 38'5.00".
Throws:
Joshua Davis highlighted the throws for the men, earning a PR in the hammer throw with a toss of 208'11". The mark improves the Davis to 29th in the East and fifth in the ACC.
Nicole Chavis added another event win for the Pack with a toss of 154'7". Alyssa Dunn finished third in 139'9" and Sharmani Hall added a PR of 131'11".
Sprints/Hurdles:
Nyheim Hines continued his outdoor season, with a second-place finish in the 100m. The dual-sport athlete crossed the finish line in 10.64, while Shannon Patterson took fourth in 10.64.
On the women's side, Gabriele Cunningham finished second in 11.90 and J'den Williams took fourth in 12.36.
Brandon McLean posted a runner-up finish in the 200m with a time of 21.81, while Sam Krehnbrink posted PRs in the 200m 400m with times of 22.40 and 49.22, respectively.
Dejah Arnold rounded out the sprints with her third consecutive 400m PR, crossing the finish line in 56.66.
In the 400m hurdles, Tiana Patillo finished second overall and just .14 from an ACC qualifying mark with a time of 1:02.14. Patillo has posted an improvement by more than five seconds in the event since her first race of the year.
Cunningham was also a tenth of a second from the ACC qualifying mark in her event, crossing the finish line with a PR of 14.22 in the 100m hurdles – good for third place.
