
THUNEY, BROWNE NAMED TO 2016 NFF HAMPSHIRE HONOR SOCIETY

RALEIGH, N.C. - The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced today the members of the 2016 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. Wolfpack offensive tackle Joe Thuney and tight end Benson Browne were named to this prestigious list.
Thuney, a first-team All-American for 2015, Earned his degree from NC State prior to his junior campaign, posting a 3.74 career GPA in his accounting major. He then pursued a second undergraduate degree in international studies with a minor in Spanish. He was to the Academic All-ACC team following the 2015 campaign.
Browne earned his second undergraduate degree in psychology in May of 2015 and earning his first in communication in 2014. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native earned the team's Earle Edwards Academic Award following the 2015 season. He played in all 13 games last season, starting three contests.
Qualifications for membership in the NFF Hampshire Honor Society include:
• Being a starter or a significant contributor in one's last year of eligibility (or a senior who has declared for the NFL Draft) at an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III or an NAIA college or university;
• Achieving a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study; and
• Meeting all NCAA/NAIA-mandated progress towards degree requirements.
