RALEIGH - For the 14th time in 15 seasons, the NC State women's golf team will compete in NCAA Regional play. The Wolfpack will be the No. 8 seed in the Baton Rouge (La.) Regional, which will be played May 5-7 at the University Club at LSU.
Last year, NC State played the NCAA Regional on its home course at Lonnie Poole. The Pack played brilliantly on the final day to finish third and advance to the NCAA Women's Golf Championship in Florida. The Wolfpack has made it out of regional play and into the national tournament in three of the last four years.
The assignment to Baton Rouge is an advantage for Wolfpack, as the team has competed their earlier this season. Playing in windy and wet conditions, the Pack tied for fifth place at the LSU Golf Classic back in March.Â
The Wolfpack, currently 29th in the GolfWeek team ranking, placed fifth at the ACC Women's Golf Championship in Greensboro on April 17.Â
The top six teams from each regional site will advance to the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore., which will take place from May 20-25 at the Eugene Country Club.
