NC State earns two runner-up finishes on Thursday
Highlights
ATLANTA- Continuing its dominant presence inside Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center, the NC State men's swimming and diving team earned two runner-up finishes on Thursday evening at the NCAA Championships.
Heading into the third day of the NCAA Championships, NC State sits in fourth with 137 points of 32 teams. Through seven events, the Wolfpack has racked up 18 All-America honors, including three second-place finishes, and nine combined records at the championship.

Wolfpack Relays
The relay squad of Simonas Bilis, Joe Bonk, Andreas Schiellerup and Ryan Held earned the Wolfpack's second runner-up relay finish of the championship, posting a school and ACC record time of 1:15.09 in the 200 freestyle relay.
In the morning session, Bilis broke the 50 free school and ACC record as he tabbed a leadoff split time of 18.76.
In the 400 medley relay the squad of Hennessey Stuart, Derek Hren, Jon Burkett and Bonk finished eighth with a time of 3:08.12. Stuart broke the school record in his 100 backstroke leadoff split during the prelims session, stopping the clock at 45.50.
Freestyle
In the 500 free, Anton Ipsen earned first team All-America honors as he finished seventh after stopping the clock at 4:14.04. This marks the sophomore's second top-16 finish of his career in the event.
Additionally, Adam Linker touched the wall at 4:18.22 in the event to finish 15th in the event standings and earn honorable mention All-America honors. In the prelims, he set a personal-best mark of 4:16.79.
Bilis was the top performer for the Pack in the 50 free, as he earned a runner-up finish with a time of 18.84 to earn the third All-America honor of his career in the event. Held finished behind his teammate in seventh place after touching the wall at 19.20, earning the second All-America honor of his career in the 50 free.
Schiellerup also earned points for NC State in the event, as he finished 15th with a mark of 19.51 to tab honorable mention All-America honors. In the morning session he swam a 19.42, marking a career best for the junior.
Individual Medley
Christian McCurdy earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 200 individual medley, posting a time of 1:46.08 to take 15th in the overall event standings. This marks the first honor in the event in his career as he earned a personal-best mark of 1:43.43 in his prelim performance.

NC State will continue competition at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta Friday. The team will return to action inside the McAuley Aquatic Center at 10 a.m., as live results and stream will be available for both sessions. Finals are set for a 6 p.m. start.
