CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 44 NC State women's tennis team fell to No. 34 Clemson 5-2 Sunday afternoon in its second ACC dual of the season. The Wolfpack is now 0-2 against conference opponents, having fallen 6-1 to No. 36 Georgia Tech on Friday, and 6-3 overall.

SIMON SAYS:
"We had great preparation for today's match, including the warm-up, but just didn't have what was required right out of the gate on two courts in doubles. It's paramount to set the tone in doubles and start the match in a positive manner and we weren't able to do that today. Playing on the road against programs with the weight of history against you, if they get the upper hands it's a long road back. We've been very up and down in that regard and have to find greater consistency to position ourselves better, even if it's just mentally going into singles. I thought we continued to do a great job at the bottom of the lineup in singles play, but need more in the other positions to make that count. We will keep working and doing everything possible in practice. It's a long season and this team is gaining experience all the time. Positive or negative experience, it's all going to help us learn what it takes. I'm confident once we reach a certain level that what we see on a daily basis will start to show through more in the team's overall performance. It's really just a matter of time and when, not if." – Simon Earnshaw, head coach
Sunday's 5-2 outcome showed improvement from the Wolfpack's last meeting with Clemson when it fell 7-0 at home during the 2015 season.
The young NC State team will continue to gain experience when it returns to action March 4 at Louisville.
