
Addison Wins Long Jump NC State Sends Nine to the Finals

After two days of competition, the women are seventh with 18 points, and the men are second with 28 points.
Multi:
Grant Rivers wrapped up the men's heptathlon, improving two places and 159 points from his 2015 finish. Rivers finished 8th with 5,093 points to score a point for the Pack and set a new school record for the second time this season.
He earned a huge PR in the 60m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 8.47. It marked a .08 improvement from his previous season high of 8.55 at the Carolina Cup. Rivers earned 867 points from the event. He added 688 points in the pole vault with a mark of 13'11.25". In the final event of the night, Rivers concluded the competition in the 1,000m dash, crossing the finish line in 2:59.18.

Jumps:
NC State added its first points of the day, as Christopher Garrick finished fifth in the high jump, tying his season-best of 6'10.75". The finish scored four points for the Pack. Garrick also earned Second-Team All-ACC honors with the finish.

Perry added four points for the Wolfpack Women in the long jump, finishing fifth overall with a leap of 19'6.00". The finish earns her Second-Team All-ACC honors and is the third year in a row that Perry has earn all-conference accolades.
On the men's side Jonathan Addison soared to his second long jump gold and third ACC individual title in his career, winning the event with a jump of 26'0.25". Addison hit the mark on his second jump and held it throughout the event.

Mid-Distance:
The Pack's mid-distance runners qualified two for mile finals and had two 800m runners earn PRs.
Megan Moye opened the track events for NC State with a qualification for the mile finals. Moye took third in her heat and third overall in 4:43.27. She briefly led the race with a strong opening 400m, before dropping back to third, where she settled in for the completion of the race.
Graham Crawford qualified for the finals of the men's mile with a second-place finish in 4:05.06. Crawford started in the back of the pack and quickly worked his way to the front before coasting to a second-place finish.
In the 800m race, John Hagood and Esther Fisher set 800m personal bests. Hagood crossed the finish line in 1:53.35, and Fisher finished the women's race in 2:15.19.
Hurdles:
Perry dominated her heat in the prelims and tied her season-best mark at 8.24 to automatically qualify for Saturday's finals. Perry's finished sixth in last year's ACC Indoor 60m hurdles event.

On the men's side, Josh Gandy and Dorian Williams both netted PRs in their final run of the indoor season. Gandy took third in his heat, crossing the finish line in 8.20, for a .02 improvement. Williams shaved off .12 from his previous PR to cross the finish line in 8.22.
Sprints:
Will Krehnbrink was the first Wolfpack sprinter to reach the finals after winning his heat in the 400m dash with a mark of 48.13. Krehnbrink finished fourth overall in the prelims.
Brian Davis posted a season-high mark, finishing 16th in 49.24. Sam Krehnbrink added a PR of 50.50 to wrap up the 400m dash.
NC State's men's sprinters add three more finals qualifiers in the 60m dash, as Nyheim Hines, Jonathan Addison and Quashawn Cunningham all finished top-eight to advance to Saturday's final heat. Hines finished third in his heat and fifth overall in 7.67. Addison took fourth in heat and 6th overall in 6.78 (season-best) and Cunningham finished third in his heat and seventh overall in 6.80.
On the women's side, Gabriele Cunningham lead the Pack with a 13th-place finish in the event, crossing the finish line in 7.55.
The Pack concluded the sprinting prelims with two more qualifiers in the 200m dash, as Shannon Patterson and Quashawn Cunningham both finished in the top-five. Both sprinters won their heat. Cunningham finished second overall with new PR of 21.37, and Patterson took fifth in 21.62.

Distance:
The Wolfpack concluded the night with a pair of distance All-ACC performers and four new PRs. Erika Kemp led the women, taking third in 15:55.03. This is Kemp's second year in a row making the podium in the indoor 5k.

The race quickly opened up, as Kemp jumped out with the front pack. While the majority of the participants were running 39-second splits over the 25-lap race, Kemp was keeping up with Notre Dame's duo, logging an average split of 37.5 over the middle of the race.
The trio of Kemp, Molly Seidel and Anna Roher all broke the previous meet record set by current NC State track coach and head women's cross country coach Laurie Henes.
Rachel Koon earned a new 5k PR, finishing just outside of a scoring position in ninth with a time of 16:31.96. The time is almost four seconds faster than her previous PR.
In the first section, Wolfpack senior Alexa Harvey earned a 5,000m PR, finishing third in her heat and 16th overall in 17:04.67.
In the men's race, Luis Vargas added five points for the Wolfpack and earned Second Team All-ACC honors with a fourth-place finish in the men's 5,000m, crossing the finish line in 14:03.37. Vargas opened the race in the middle of the group and worked his way into the lead position for seven laps.
The race was tactical and closed with a well-timed kick. Until the final two laps, the average 200m split was about 34.5 seconds. The final lap was a sprint to the finish, as the top-four runners finished the last 200m in less than 27 seconds.
In addition to Vargas' fourth-place finish, Sam Parsons took 11th with a new PR of 14:18.70. Parsons ran at the back of the group for about half of the race before making a move into the upper half of the pack. He recorded the fastest split 3,200m lap, covering the 200m distance in 33.57.

Redshirt freshman Patrick Sheehan rounded out the competing athletes for NC State, winning the opening heat and taking 14th overall in 14:23.88.
