Wolfpack to send two individuals to NCAA Championships for first time in 34 years
INDIANAPOLIS – NC State's Caitlyn Ford and Lucas Kozeniesky have been selected to compete as individuals in the 2016 NCAA Rifle Championships, announced Thursday on the NCAA Selection Show.
Â
It marks the first time since 1982, a span of nearly 34 years, that NC State will send more than one individual to the NCAA Championships. Dani Foster was the last Wolfpack shooter to earn an individual selection in the championships.
Â
Ford has been selected to take part in both the air rifle and smallbore disciplines, while Kozenieksy will only compete in the air rifle event. The 2016 championships will be held March 11-12 and hosted by Akon at the Stile Athletics Field House.
Â
Ford set the program record earlier this season with a score of 596 in the air rifle competition. Kozeniesky set the school record prior with a 595 before having it broken by Ford.
Â
Kozeniesky owns the NC State record for highest smallbore score at 591 and aggregate total at 1185.
Â
Unfortunately, the Wolfpack was not selected as a team after finishing 11th in the final team rankings. NC State will next be in action this weekend at the Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championships hosted by Ole Miss. Live targets for the event can be found by clicking here.
