
Moye Breaks Mile Record, Pack Wraps up Weekend

The NC State track and field program took down another historic record, as Megan Moye ran to a new indoor mile record and the team wrapped up competition at the Husky Classic and Tyson Invitational.
Husky Classic Results
SEATTLE, Wash. – The mid-distance and distance athletes jumped into national and ACC rankings with solid marks. The group's effort was highlighted by Moye's new indoor mile record and Kemp's 3,000m PR.
Mid-distance:
Megan Moye became the seventh NC State athlete to break a program record this indoor season. Moye shattered the 27-year-old indoor mile record, crossing the finish line at Husky Classic in 4:37.04. The mark beats Mary Ann Carraher's mark of 4:39.98, which was set in 1989.
Moye's time beats her previous PR of 4:43.08 and vaults her back into the national indoor qualifying list for seventh in the NCAA.
In the men's mile run, Philip Hall improved on his collegiate best indoor mile, crossing the finish line 4:09.63.
Distance:
In the opening heats of the women's 3,000m race, Rachel Koon earned an ACC qualifying mark with a time of 9:33.70 and Alyssa Rudawsky set a new PR of 9:40.68.
Erika Kemp had a #STATEMENT performance, while running in the fastet heat of the night with a field of elite collegiate runners. Kemp defended her current national mark and improved her PR by almost six seconds, crossing the finish line in 9:06.07. The time currently ranks sixth in the NCAA.
On the men's side, Sebastian Hanson won section three of the 3,000m race crossing the finish line in 8:10.49 on his indoor 3,000m season debut. The mark qualifies him for the ACC Championships.
Bakri Abushouk took third in his heat, crossing the finish line in 8:16.80, while Patrick Sheehan recorded a time of 8:20.68.
Graham Crawford and Meron Simon ran in the final two fastest heats of the night. Simon finished less than a second from his indoor 3k PR with a time of 8:13.48. Crawford also finished just short of a PR with a time of 8:04.72. The mark qualifies Crawford for the conference championships and is currently ranked 5th in the ACC.
Slashing Records:
This season NC State's track program has set seven indoor school records and made a national #STATEMENT by breaking into the top-25 team rankings. The Pack has broken school records each of the past three weeks.
The women's distance program has gone 3-for-3 this season with school records, breaking the mile, 3k and 5k records.
With the successful marks, individuals are jumping up the national ladder and into the national top-16 lists, which is translating into team rankings. The women are currently ranked No. 9 and the men No. 19 in the USTFCCCA polls.
Tyson Invite Results
Fayetteville, Ark. – Several personal records highlighted the final day of the Tyson Invitational. The Pack's sprinters and jumpers continued to improve on their season-bests and jumped up in the ACC standings.
Sprints:
Tiana Patillo, Brandon McLean, Shannon Patterson and Quashawn Cunningham all hit season-high marks in the 200m dash.
Simmons posted a 200m time of 24.32, which is just off her ACC qualifying mark and season-high of 24.25, which she set at last weekend's VT Elite. Patillo shaved .03 off her previous season-high, crossing the finish line in 24.86.
Cunningham led the men's sprinters with a season-high mark of 21.44—good for 11th place. His mark is now ranked second in the conference.
Patterson took 16th in 21.60, while McLean crossed the finish line in 22.00. McLean's time marks a .3 second improvement from his previous season high, while Patterson's mark is a .07 improvement. Both have gotten faster in each race as the season has progressed.
Jumps:
Both of NC State's triple jumpers set new season-best marks at the Tyson Invitational. Javonne Antoine jumped to an indoor collegiate personal best of 41'0.50", while Bell reached 38'10175".
Antoine's mark is currently ranked fifth in the ACC and is a two-foot improvement from her first jump this season.
In the men's high jump, both Jonathan Addison and Christopher Garrick earned top-10 finishes. Addison finished 4th with a jump of 6'9.00", while Garrick took sixth with a mark of 6'7.00".
Both jumpers hold a season-best mark of 6'10.75".
Up Next:
NC State enters its final weekend before the ACC Championships. The Pack will send groups to Winston-Salem, N.C., and Charlottesville, Va., as they chase opportunities for nationals and ACC marks.
