
Two Top-10 Home Matches on Tap for @PackWrestle This Weekend

RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 3 NC State wrestling team closes out its regular season this weekend, playing host to a pair of top-10 schools. On Friday night, the Pack will host #8 Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. - the winner claiming the ACC regular season championship for best dual record. On Sunday, NC State celebrates Senior Day when #5 Missouri comes to town for a 1 p.m. dual.
Both duals will be held at the NC State Fairgrounds Holshouser Building. Doors will be opening at 6 p.m. with parking lots opening at 5 p.m., and fans can begin to form a line at 5 p.m. as well. Admission and parking are both free, and fans are encouraged to arrive.

Every week, dating back to Dec. 15, when the weekly NWCA/USA Today Coaches' Poll comes out on Tuesday afternoon NC State has occupied the No. 3 spot. This weeks' poll was no different, as the Wolfpack is No. 3 in the country for the eighth straight poll. Virginia Tech moved up two spots and is ranked No. 8, while Missouri has been No. 5 for the last three weeks.
Against Virginia Tech, the Pack will be vying for its first regular season ACC title since 2004, as both teams enter the conference match-up with undefeated marks. NC State is also looking to complete the ACC duals sweep for the first time since 2000.
NC State is also a perfect 7-0 vs. ranked teams overall this season - outscoring those teams 186-69 (avg. 26.6-9.9) and winning 49 of the 70 individual matches (.700). The Pack has defeated ranked opponents in four of its last five duals - including a 19-15 road win at #11 Nebraska last weekend. NC State has defeated its lone top-10 opponent faced this year, at No. 4 Oklahoma State, 19-15.
The Wolfpack enters the weekend with six of the 10 starters ranked in every poll, and a seventh wrestler ranked in various publications.

Gantt enters a perfect 19-0 on the season, 13-0 in duals and 4-0 in ACC action. His last two wins have both come versus top-15 opponents on the road - #14 Cottrell of WVU 10-8 (SV-1), and #15 Berger of Nebraska by major decision 11-3. Brascetta is a two-time All-American, in 2015 at 157 pounds and in 2013 at 149, and a three-time ACC Champion. He has been limited with injuries this year to just five matches, but is 2-0 in ACC action. Brascetta has won the three previous meetings, but this will be the first meeting since 2013.
285: #1 Nick Gwiazdowski (24-0) vs. #2 Ty Walz (20-0)
A battle between two of the four undefeated heavyweights nationally. Gwiazdowski is looking to close out his career with a perfect record in ACC duals, as he enters 15-0 all-time with 14 bonus point wins. Walz was a 2015 All-American after his seventh place finish at NCAAs, and this season is a perfect 14-0 in duals. Gwiazdowski is 4-0 all-time against Walz, as the two have faced each other twice each of the last two seasons.
Last Year at Virginia Tech
Freshman Nicky Hall recorded a major decision and Nick Gwiazdowski pinned a top-10 foe, but it was not enough as the Wolfpack fell at #9 Virginia Tech 29-9. The Hokies won each of the first six bouts, and after NC State was assessed a penalty point, Virginia Tech was up 23-(-1). Both Pack wins were bonus points on the day.

Rohskopf is 11-0 at 165 pounds this year, his lone loss came at Oklahoma State at 174. He last four wins have all come against ranked opponents, including two wins vs. top-10 foes. Even more impressive, he has only been taken down once in a match at 165 pounds all season. Leiws has won eight of his last nine dual matchups, after redshirted last season with a 21-8 record in open tournaments, with 15 pins. This will be the first career meeting between the two.
Last Year at Missouri
Making a Midwest road swing, the Pack fell at #3 Missouri, 29-10. NC State was forced to forfeit the first bout of the day at 133 pounds, and the Tigers kept the lead the entire dual after gaining those six points. Missouri claimed the first three bouts overall and took a 13-0 lead, but NC State fought back and narrowed the gap to 13-7 at the halfway point before Missouri won four of the final five matches.
