KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Tziarra King and Kristina Schuster have been selected to the NSCAA Southeast All-Region Team, as announced by the organization Wednesday night. Both freshmen started all 22 matches during the Pack's breakout season, which concluded with a run to the Sweet 16.
Â
The two are the first NSCAA All-Region selections since 2006 and mark the first time in program history that two Wolfpackers have made the All-Region team in a single season.
Â
Â
King, who recently earned All-ACC honors, led the Pack with 17 points from eight goals and an assist. Schuster played as the Pack's starting right back and was exceptional along the flank. In addition to solid defending, the German also got forward in the attack and finished the year with seven points from a goal and five assists.
Â
It's the second regional honor of the year for the Pack, as the coaches were recently selected as the NSCAA Southeast Staff of the Year.
Â
The 2016 season marked a clear breakthrough for the Pack. The team advanced to the third round of the NCAA Championships for just the fourth time in program history, ended a 20-year NCAA Championship appearance drought and tallied its second-best ACC season in school history.
