NC State women’s soccer to make first NCAA Championship appearance since 1996

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women's soccer team will continue its historic season as it received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship Monday night, marking its first appearance at the national tournament since 1996.
The Wolfpack will travel to Minneapolis, Minn., to face 2016 Big-10 Tournament Champion, Minnesota. The Golden Gophers are 16-3-3 and ranked No. 8 in the national coaches poll.
The postseason appearance is another step in the team's breakout season. After finishing 220th in the RPI in 2015, the team has vaulted to 45th in the latest RPI.
NC State reached double digit wins for the first time since 2011, set its best ACC wins and points total since 1995 and defeated five teams that were ranked or receiving votes.

Overall, NC State is 9-10-3 in the NCAA Championship. The Pack has advanced out of the first round eight times.
