RALEIGH - The NC State men's basketball team is moving some of its preseason fun out of primetime and into the parking lot.
Â
Head coach Mark Gottfried and his team will host Tailgate Tip-Off presented by Butterball on Saturday, Oct. 3. The event will take place prior to NC State's Ag Day football game vs. Louisville. The Pack will hold an outdoor scrimmage and other fan appreciation activities in Fan Zone on the PNC Arena South Plaza between PNC Arena and Carter-Finley Stadium's Dail Plaza North.
Â
A formal start time for Tailgate Tip-Off will be announced when the game time is confirmed for the football match-up with Louisville.
Â
A busy October for NC State University, Wolfpack Athletics and the PNC Arena complex, along with the ongoing renovations to Reynolds Coliseum led the men's basketball program to take advantage of an opportunity to engage with Wolfpack Nation in a new way as part of the Ag Day festivities.
Â
"We are very excited for our team to have a chance to interact with our fans in what should be a great and unique atmosphere," Gottfried said. "We appreciate Butterball's support and are looking forward to a memorable day for everyone."
Â
"As a company headquartered in the Triangle, we have a healthy Tobacco Road rivalry among our own team members," said Kerry Doughty, president and CEO of Butterball, LLC. "We are proud to support ACC athletics through our partnership with NC State, and this unique Tailgate Tip-Off event will be a great setup for what promises to be an exciting basketball season."
Â
Gottfried's team will be holding a second fan appreciation event leading up to the upcoming basketball season in November as well.
Â
Fans will have a chance to Meet the Pack and get autographs Sunday, Nov. 8 after the team's exhibition game vs. California State University, Los Angeles. That exhibition game is set for a 2 p.m. start.
