Wolfpack Football Goes Shopping for Toys for Tots

CARY, N.C. – Every December, an event occurs that members of the Wolfpack football team look forward to with great joy. No, it's not the bowl announcement, although that yearly event is also highly anticipated. And it's not the visit from the big guy in the sleigh either.
Instead, the event that means it's holiday time for Wolfpack football is the annual Toys for Tots shopping spree. This year, members of the Belk Bowl bound squad went to the Toys R Us in Cary to carefully select toys for local children.
Seniors Juston Burris and Hakim Jones, juniors WR Bra'Lon Cherry and CB Nicholas Lacy, sophomores Justin Jones, AIrius Moore, Gavin Locklear and Cole Cook and freshman Kyle Bambard were the lucky shoppers this season who were able to spend the almost $10,000 given by Wolfpack fans at last week's men's basketball contest versus Michigan to the US Marine Corps' Toys for Tots campaign.
Each player was given an age range for a boy or girl to choose toys for. They asked advice from some of the moms who were shopping in the store as to which toys were best for their chosen age.Â
The group filled dozens of carts and then bag after bag of toys were taken to a Marine truck parked just outside. The toys will be distributed to boys and girls in the local area through the Toys for Tots program. Coca-Cola partnered with NC State Athletics to help with the initiative.
