RALEIGH, N.C. - The Belk Bowl-bound NC State football team held its annual awards banquet at Talley Student Union on campus today. More than 400 guests were in attendance to honor the accomplishments of the 2015 squad.
Senior quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who will graduate on Friday, won the team's Governor's Award, which has been given to the team's Most Valuable Player since 1960. Brissett's 2,448 passing yards this season ranks as the 13th-best mark in school history, while his 19 passing touchdowns tie for ninth.  Earlier in the season, he turned in the third-longest interception free streak in ACC history (241 straight passes).
Jaylen Samuels, a first-team All-ACC performer, won the Torry Holt Award for most valuable offensive player. Samuels led the team in touchdowns (14) and receptions (64) this season and was the squad's second-leading rusher. Â
The Mario Williams Award for defensive MVP went to graduate defensive end Mike Rose. A second-team All-ACC performer, Rose ranks second in the ACC and ninth in the FBS with 10.5 sacks this season, just four from tying WIlliams' single-season record.
