
Pack XC Rises In National Polls

Women 8th, Men 12th in latest poll
RALEIGH, N.C. - Both NC State cross country teams have received its highest rankings of the year in the final regular-season USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll. The women's team jumped up four spots to No. 8, and the men's team moved up five spots to 12th in the national standings.
Last week's strong team performance at the loaded Wisconsin Invitational fueled the move. The women opened the day with a fourth-place finish to score better than a host of teams ranked above them, while the men took seventh in its race with wins over then ranked No. 4 Stanford, No. 11 Wisconsin and No. 15 Michigan State.
Upward Trend:
Race–by-race both teams have moved up in the polls throughout the season. The women were ranked 18th in the preseason poll, and improved 10 spots over the course of the season. The fourth-place finish at Wisconsin fueled NC State's biggest move in the poll.
The men's team started the year unranked, but have made massive moves in the polls after its last two races. A second place finish at Notre Dame catapulted the men from 27th to 17th, while the team performance at Wisconsin pushed the team up five spots to 12th.
The Look Ahead:
With the approaching postseason competition, NC State sets it sights on the ACC Championships. The Pack will race Friday, Oct. 30 in Tallahassee, Fla.
