Chris Hart, a former infielder and catcher at Florida State, enters his 13th season with the NC State baseball program, his 11th as an on-field member of the coaching staff, and his ninth as a full-time coach. Hart spent the 2007 season as the Wolfpack’s volunteer assistant, and the two years prior as the program’s director of baseball operations. Hart coaches the hitters, infielders, and catchers.

Hart became the program’s lead recruiter in 2010 and produced immediate results on the trail, signing one of the best classes in the nation. Among the 13 heralded newcomers on NC State’s roster that fall were 2011 North Carolina High School Player of the Year Carlos Rodon, Pirates 20th round selection Trea Turner, and Brett Austin, a supplemental first rounder and the highest-drafted recruit to attend NC State in 31 years.

Rodon and Turner’s stock improved to No. 3 and No. 13, respectively. Logan Jernigan heard his name called in 2014. Jake Fincher and Logan Ratledge waited a year. In all, six draft picks from one class.

Hart knows the Atlantic Coast Conference well. He was a four-year letterman for head coach Mike Martin at Florida State from 1999-2003. A utilityman as a freshman, Hart became the starting designated hitter against lefthanded pitching, appearing in 50 games that first season. In all, Hart played 195 for the Seminoles, starting 116 with a .271 batting average, 23 doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 72 RBIs.

Hart’s four Florida State teams (199, 2001-03) posted a combined record of 218-60 (.784), making an NCAA Super Regional all four years. Hart advanced to the College World Series as a player in 1999 and 2000, returning as a coach in 2013 with NC State. In his playing career, Hart played every position on the field except pitcher and center.
