NC STATE SUSTAINABILITY COUNCIL

The campus-wide Sustainability Council exists to advance sustainability at NC State.

Established in September 2015 by the Provost and the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, the Sustainability Council is charged with:

  • Serving as the advisory committee to the Provost and the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration on sustainability.
  • Advancing sustainability coordination, collaboration and communication across NC State and bringing together NC State’s sustainability leaders.
  • Enhancing participatory decision-making and involvement in sustainability planning and activities.
  • Infusing sustainability into academic curricula across the campus.
  • Developing the Sustainability Strategic Plan for 2017-2022 and overseeing its implementation.
  • Providing monitoring, communication and accountability for adherence to the 2017-2022 Sustainability Strategic Plan.

The Change Your State Campaign is a sustainability outreach and education initiative, with the goal of getting students on board with making "greener" personal choices. The first wave of the campaign focuses on energy conservation. By raising awareness about how energy is used (and wasted) at NC State, the campaign hopes to reduce energy usage across campus by five percent. Athletics supports the initiative and is tying energy conservation tips into sporting events.
